PILATES REFORMER CLASSES

This popular class is based on the belief that mental and physical health are interrelated, and should be conditioned together- Pilates is a Mind-Body exercise system!

 

All of the classes at ShapeShift Pilates Studio attempt to coordinate breathing and physical movement. Pilates has been shown to improve focus, concentration, flexibility and body awareness through mental focus of controlled movement. 

The Reformer is a frame with a rolling platform "carriage" that travels inside of it. Clients can lie, sit, stand, stable or place sitting boxes on top to perform various resistive exercises via springs with variable resistance. Movement is performed by pressing off a bar, or by using ropes and straps. The movements promote spinal support and alignment and provide a zero gravity environment.
